Why did you choose to study at F&M?

I chose Franklin & Marshall College (F&M) because of its strong liberal arts curriculum, the close-knit community, and the numerous opportunities for undergraduate research and international study programs. The college’s commitment to fostering critical thinking and providing a well-rounded education was a significant factor in my decision. At F&M, I have had the privilege of studying social sciences with some of the best professors in both qualitative and quantitative research fields.

When researching schools in the US, these were non-negotiables for me:

  • A vibrant international student community. As a social science major, this community offers diverse perspectives on global issues, enhances my cross-cultural communication, and connects me with peers worldwide.
  • Internship and career outcomes. The college has provided incredible opportunities for work and study abroad, enriching my academic experience. In just two years, I’ve had practical experiences on three continents, which have broadened my perspective, enhanced my skills, and prepared me for a successful international career.

F&M has provided me with incredible opportunities to work and study abroad, enriching my academic experience and broadening my global perspective.

What are some of the student organizations you are involved in at F&M?

I am actively involved in several student organizations at F&M. As the Vice President of the French Club, I coordinate “Francophone History and Culture” activities and organize fundraisers on campus. In my role as Vice President of the Red Cross Club, I collaborate with the American Red Cross to organize volunteer programs and fundraising events, contributing to community service and emergency preparedness initiatives. I also hosted “Social Dislocation,” a radio show about the social science field, where I tried to apply sociological imagination to our everyday lives.

What are some memorable internship experiences you have had?

Several memorable internship experiences have significantly shaped my understanding of human rights and legal advocacy. At Clifford Chance, an international law firm, in New York City, I worked as a Human Rights & Business Intern. I advised clients on compliance with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act and provided guidance on bringing cases to the European Court of Human Rights.

My internship with the New York State Unified Court System, under the mentorship of an F&M alum, allowed me to directly engage with legislative research on domestic violence intervention and co-draft the Judges Manual 2024.

Additionally, my role as an Older Youth Intern at CASA of Lebanon and Lancaster Counties, a local non-profit organization, involved researching and compiling vital information on placements for children who experienced domestic violence, abuse, and neglect.

Each of these roles provided me with practical experience in the field of human rights and solidified my commitment to advocacy and legal reform.

Why did you join F&M as an admissions ambassador?

I joined as an admissions ambassador to share my experiences at F&M with prospective students, especially those from international backgrounds. My goal is to help prospective students understand the unique opportunities and benefits of a liberal arts education, and to ensure they feel welcomed and supported as they navigate the admissions process.

What should prospective international students ask you about?

Whatever questions you may have, I am here to help guide you through your journey and ensure you feel confident and prepared for your college experience. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about college life, particularly in a liberal arts college, as not everyone is familiar with this curriculum. Ask me about navigating the admissions process and adjusting to life in the US, as I have firsthand experience with both.
